Reiki

Treatments

You are invited to experience the universal life force energy of Reiki in a treatment by Janna Orkney, Reiki Master.  Soothing, healing energy is channeled by her, either hands-on, or remotely, including at a distance.  If hands-on, a recipient is on a massage table or chair and is fully clothed.

Janna has practiced the original Usui Reiki Shiki Ryoho system since 1990.  She received 1st and 2nd degrees from Master Phil Morgan, who received his Master level attunement from Phyllis Lei Furamoto, the Reiki Grand Master and granddaughter of Hawayo Takata.

Eventually, Janna wanted to start attuning others and to make Reiki more central to her life, so in 2023, she was initiated as a Reiki Master.

Attunements

You too can be initiated and have the blessing of Reiki energy in your life!  An initiation or attunement opens a channel for Reiki to flow through your crown chakra to your hands, enabling you to transmit the universal life force energy to yourself or others.

The Three Levels

First Degree attunement and class is given over two days.  A student receives four energy transmissions during the class, to open up their Reiki channel.  They will also learn the history of Reiki, the 5 Precepts and hand positions used in the traditional treatment.  Giving Reiki to oneself and others also takes place.

6-8 hours
$250

Second Degree gives students three Reiki symbols and mantras to use in treatments along with an additional energy transmission to make the flow of healing energy stronger.  It also includes practice using the symbols and mantras during treatments.  Usually over two days.

4-6 hours
$250

The Master level attunement is for those who want to initiate others and to become more immersed in Reiki.  It includes review of Reiki methods and principles, the Master initiation, and two Master symbols and mantras.

3-4 hours
$350

More Information on Reiki

Reiki is a system of healing that originated in Japan in the early 20th century.  It consists of two root words, Rei and Ki.  Rei means universal or spiritual wisdom, from the Source or God.  Ki is the life-force energy that permeates all living beings, and in some form, even inanimate things.  Putting the two parts together, Reiki could be defined as universal or spiritual life-force energy.

In Japan, Reiki refers to any spiritual healing method, but in the U.S. it usually refers to the system founded by Dr. Mikao Usui, called Reiki Usui Shiki Rhoyo. After years of searching, Dr. Usui discovered how to channel healing energy in 1922.  When he died in 1926, he had treated over two thousand people and initiated students to carry on the practice.

One of Dr. Usui’s Master-initiates was Dr.Chujiro Hayashi, a medical doctor.  Dr. Hayashi built a clinic in Tokyo where he treated patients and taught how to practice Reiki.  One patient and student of his was Hawayo Takata from Hawaii., who came for treatment in 1935 for a serious medical condition.  After achieving wellness and studying at the clinic, Takata returned to Hawaii and started giving Reiki treatments.  In 1938, Dr. Hayashi visited Takata in Hawaii, and designated her as a Master.  In 1940, Dr. Hayashi died.

During World War II and beyond, Takata taught, treated, and initiated countless students.  She started in Hawaii, and then travelled to the U.S. Mainland and western Canada to teach.  The Reiki, or life force energy remained the same, but she modified the treatments and teachings to be more compatible with western attitudes.

Takata died in 1980 at the age of 79, after spending decades spreading the practice of Reiki in the west.  She initiated 22 American Masters who carried on the Reiki teachings.  Her granddaughter, Phyllis Lei Furamoto, was chosen as the new Grand Master in 1983, and was the only one to initiate new Masters until 1988.

With the passing of Takata Sensei, the core Reiki system continued as Reiki Usui Shiki Ryoho.  While the teachings eventually evolved into different branches, all Reiki is based on hands-on spiritual energy treatments, with the ability to transmit the energy being passed on to students through initiations or attunements.
